If your pet is missing time is of the essence!
Begin looking immediately... and
DON'T GIVE UP!
We're here to help.
Check
your home thoroughly. When an animal becomes scared or ill, it may sometimes hide in
unusual places, so search every part of your property including
wooded and brushy areas, garages, under decks, inside closets or
under stored vehicles. Ask your neighbors to search their
properties and garages as well.
Plaster
your neighborhood with flyers within a 10-mile radius. Include a
photo of the pet on the flyer.
Before posting, check local laws regarding the posting of
signs. With the permission of the staff, post signs in and near high
traffic locations like stores, libraries, and schools. (As a
courtesy to your neighborhood, be sure to remove all of the signs as
soon as your pet is found.)
* Visit shelters often,
at minimum, once every 3 three days
(this is the most important advice we can give).
Shelters allow pets to be adopted after a certain waiting period, so
check the shelters often or you might find that your good friend was
found, held, and then adopted out.
